KUMASI CENTRAL MARKET GUTS FIRE

Fire guts the New Kumasi Central Kejetia Market in the Ashanti Region that has the first phase of the project, an ultra-modern market with 8,420 stores, a clinic, a police station, a masjid(mosque), a social and recreational center, I.C.T center, a post office, a fire post, banks, a butchery and a day-care center which was completed in late 2018.
The fire started around 4:30 on Wednesday 15 March.

The Ghana National Fire Service were there on time but was battling to put out the ranging fire. Kumasi central market guts fire.
Response from The Ghana Fire Service were loomed because some access routes to the market had been taken over by trading sheds.

On the other hand, three tenders were brought instantly but due to the fast spreading of the fire to parts of the market , the fourth tender was ordered to help put off the ranging inferno.
According to an eyewitness , the fire was caused by an overloaded extension board which exploded and caught fire .

This comes barely a week after some parts of the market got flooded after a heavy downpour.
