Approval of new ministers: Parliament decides today

Approval of new ministers: Parliament decides today. Alban Bagbin, the Speaker of Parliament, has instructed the house to discuss the report of the Appointments Committee regarding the new Ministers appointed by President Akufo-Addo on Thursday.

The decision on the fate of the new appointees will be made on Friday, March 24.

This direction was given last night after the house suspended a debate on the report for more than five hours to allow members to engage in a joint caucus meeting.

Although some members were not in support of the directive, the Speaker stood by his decision. Ahead of the vetting of the newly nominated ministers on February 20, 2023,

the National Democratic Congress (NDC) directed the Minority group not to approve them,

citing their appointments as an insensitive move that would increase government expenditure in the midst of an economic crisis.

The Minority has threatened to vote against the newly appointed ministers and deputy ministers,

while the Majority Leader has pleaded with the house to consider approving them.Approval of new ministers: Parliament decides today
